I built Eloqi because I wanted to get better at chess without spending more hours staring at a screen. The coaching happens beside a real board, out loud, and the thinking runs on the phone rather than on someone’s server. It is brand new on the App Store and I am still building. I read every piece of feedback that comes in, and if something here does not work the way you expected, I would rather hear it than not.

Questions
Do I need a special board?
No. Use the board and pieces you already have. There is no smart board to buy and nothing to attach to the squares.
Does it need the internet?
Only to download. Eloqi fetches its board recognition models the first time you open the camera, and your coach’s voice the first time you choose them. After that a whole game needs no connection: the tracking, the analysis and the coaching all happen on the phone.
Can I change coaches?
Yes, any time. There are six, each with their own face and their own voice. Your coach is the face all through the app, and the voice at a real board: they call the moves out loud as you play. In a game on the phone’s own screen the spoken coaching comes in one shared voice. A new coach downloads their voice once, then plays it from the phone.
Which iPhone do I need?
An iPhone running iOS 17.0 or later. Newer models follow the board faster.
Is it in my language?
The app is in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian and Japanese. The coaches speak English.
Where do my camera frames go?
They stay on the phone and are never uploaded. There is no account tied to your games either.
Can I just play on the screen?
Yes. The camera is for real boards, but you can play, review and train entirely on the phone if you prefer.
